DLYS – Dictionary of Loanwords in Yalkut Shimoni

DLYS is a lexicographical resource for recording and analyzing the (predominantly Greek) foreign words in Yalkut Shimoni, a compilation of interpretations of Biblical passages following the Talmudic order of the Bible. The interpretations are collected from halakhic and aggadic literature beginning with the Mishna up to the 12th century. The author of the compilation is unknown, however, the text can be dated to the 13th century. The lemmata are encoded in TEI/XML in form of the TEI-Lex0 dialect. The web representation consists of a XML database (baseX) with a REST-API and a web client written in vue.js. The project is funded by the FWF, runs for 3 years, and is a cooperation between the Center for Jewish Cultural History of the University Salzburg and the ACDH-CH.
