Musicology students at Vienna University

This database features students attending musicology lectures at the University of Vienna, spanning from Eduard Hanslick’s habilitation in 1856 to the 1930s. Compiled since 2013, the data is drawn from the Nationalen (enrollment records) archived at the University of Vienna.

The MySQL database includes all details from the Nationalen, which were filled out anew each semester. Where possible and necessary (e.g., for birth dates), the data has been standardized. For lecturers in musicology, the titles of the relevant courses are also recorded. This information is partially available for instructors of other academic fields as well.
