Biographical sketch

Studied Classical Archaeology and a combination of subjects (Prehistory and Early History, Ancient History, History) at the University of Vienna. Doctorate in 2003, habilitation in 2023. Since 1997 he has been working on the small finds in Ephesus as part of FWF-funded projects: first the gold finds from the Artemision, then the Byzantine small finds made of metal and bone. From 2007 to 2009, work on the Byzantine gold jewellery in the Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum Mainz. From 2017 to 2020 processing of small finds from the Theban Paulos Monastery/Upper Egypt (FWF/DFG). Since 2020 research associate in the long-term project »The Artemision of Ephesus«.
