Obwohl es sich bei dem »Pantelegraphen« um einen Vorgänger der Fax- und Fernsehtechnologie handelt, ist seine Geschichte bisher nicht erzählt worden. Julia Zons folgt den Spuren des »Alles-Schreibers« und rekonstruiert seine bruchstückhafte Geschichte anhand von Patenten, aber auch von Briefen, Geschichten, einem Comic, verblichenen Telegrammen sowie konkreten Apparaten.
