Summary: | Mathematics is among the most important cultural achievements of ancient Greece. Precisely when and where did it originate? The ancient view that Plato, along with Thales and Euclid, played an important part in its development has long been dismissed as fiction. This book takes a new look based on modeling theory and comes to a contrary conclusion: Plato is, in fact, the creator of deductive mathematics. |
