Against much resistance, Burckhard, director of the Burgtheater, premiered Schnitzlers Liebelei. His voice portrait demonstrates Burckhard’s mental closeness to Schnitzler’s world. In return, Schnitzler modelled a number of characters in his pieces on Burckhard’s person.
