Experience . Acoustic . Research

What is sound and how is it created? Why is noise a danger to our ears? How do I perceive my world as a hearing-impaired person? How do sound events look transformed into images?

The Acoustics Research Institute (ARI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences communicates its fundamental research in formats specially tailored to children or adults. For example, the ARI offers guided tours for school classes at the institute, invites the public to an open house event on the international "Noise Awareness Day", is involved in the "Long Night of Research" or OeAW programmes such as "Academy in the Classroom" or "Children's University".
