ger: Die Habsburgischen Herrscher hatten stets eine enge Bindung zur Musik, sowohl als Maezene als auch als Ausfuehrende. Maria Theresia, die selbst als Saengerin aufgetreten war, folgte dieser Tradition: auch ihre Kinder erhielten Unterricht in Musiktheorie, Musikinstrumenten und Gesang und fuehrten zahlreiche, eigens für sie komponierte Stuecke auf. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschaeftigt sich mit der Musikerziehung der Kinder und gibt eine detaillierte Beschreibung der Werke in denen sie auftraten. Sie betrachtet das Musikleben der kaiserlichen Familie im Kontext der geschichtlichen und musikhistorischen Veraenderungen der Epoche: dem Verfall der Kaiserlichen Hofkapelle aufgrund finanzieller Einsparungen, die Aufgabe der Exklusivitaet großer Opernproduktionen und die Einfuehrung des franzoesischen Lebensstils bei Hofe durch Franz Stephan von Lothringen.

eng: The Habsburg rulers had a long-lasting love affair with music, both as patrons and performers. According to this tradition Empress Maria Theresia, who performed as a singer herself, had her children follow in her footsteps by receiving education in basic musical theory, musical instruments and singing. Like their mother they performed numerous compositions written specifically for them. This thesis takes an in-depth look at their musical education - in particular as singers - and gives a detailed description of the musical events they took part in. It puts the Imperial family's musical life in the historical context of the changes of musical life in general: the decline of the Imperial Court Chapel due to financial cuts, the out-sourcing of opera productions, which had been the exclusive right of the court until then, and the introduction of French lifestyle through Maria Theresia's husband, Emperor Franz Stephan of Lorraine.
