Jahrhundert vertretenen Diktum der autonomen Kunst im Widerspruch zu stehen. Zudem war der Kunstdiskurs bestimmt von einer Kontroverse um die Ikonografie der Moderne. Sarah Czirr untersucht in diesem Kontext das sich eröffnende Spannungsfeld von künstlerischer Aneignung und sozialer Wirklichkeit, in dem Skulpturen in Zeiten der Industrialisierung zu »arbeitenden Bildern«, zu produktiven Akteuren verschiedener Seiten werden, ohne dass die Gesetze der »Kunstwirklichkeit« je außer Kraft treten. | ||
