Neben Architekten wie Walter Gropius, Frank Lloyd Wright oder Hans Scharoun waren Akteure aus Politik (Josip Tito) und Wirtschaft (Adriano Olivetti), aus der Wissenschaft (Martin Heidegger, Henri Lefebvre), aus Verwaltung, Vereinen und Gemeinden sowie aus dem Presse- und dem Ausstellungswesen beteiligt - teils in personeller Kontinuität mit den untergegangenen Regimen. Die Konflikte und Übereinkünfte zwischen Praxis und Öffentlichkeit sind das Thema dieses Buches. 16 Autorinnen und Autoren diskutieren die Bedeutung von Netzwerken und Ideologien in der Architektur in Ost- und Westdeutschland, in Holland, Jugoslawien, Italien und der Schweiz.
