Wissenschaftler_innen aus Deutschland und Italien entwerfen in diesem Band Möglichkeiten eines zukünftigen Erinnerns. Erstmalig werden dabei auch Lorenza Mazzettis malerische Bearbeitungen eines traumatischen Massakers durch deutsche Soldaten, Bruno Canovas künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Faschismus sowie neue Erkenntnisse über das Schicksal Felix Nussbaums vorgestellt und in die fachhistorischen Diskurse eingebettet.
