To this end eight tesimonies which had never been studied previously were collated. As a result the reader has access to an apparatus criticus which is mainly dedicated to textual matters. | ||
| 520 | |a Eine neue kritische Edition der Aeneis erfordert ein systematisches und zuverlässiges Durchdenken des Textes, jedoch auch eine ausreichende und möglichst vollständige Darbietung der handschriftlichen Überlieferung.Hierfür wurden nicht nur die sieben spätantiken codices erneut durchgesehen, sondern die recensio wurde erweitert durch den Rückgriff auf Zeugnisse aus der karolingischen Zeit, die die früheren Editoren nur teilweise mit herangezogen haben. Zu diesem Zweck wurden acht bisher völlig unerforschte Testimonien kollationiert. Auf diese Weise steht dem Leser ein hauptsächlich textorientierter kritischer Apparat zur Verfügung. | ||
