Am Tag nach seiner Rückkehr aus dem Exil hielt Cicero eine Dankesrede vor dem Senat. Mit dieser Arbeit liegt erstmals ein moderner Kommentar zur Rede cum senatui gratias egit vor. Unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Parallelrede an das Volk schließt dieses Buch somit eine frappierende Lücke in der Ciceroforschung. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt insbesondere in der Behandlung textkritischer Probleme. The day after he returned from exile, Cicero gave a speech of thanks to the senate. This is the first modern commentary of that oration, cum senatui gratias egit. Considering the matching oration Cicero gave to the people as well, this book is an important contribution to an overlooked area of Cicero studies. The commentary focuses in particular on textual issues.
