Summary: | During the reign of Maximilian I, relations between the Holy Roman Empire and France were marked by conflict. The peace treaties of this era testify to complex processes of negotiation. The texts and their attendant circumstances shed light on emerging practices and ideas related to the establishment of norms and obligations during the period between the Middle Ages and Early Modernity. |
