Es entsteht im formalen Rahmen des Ansatzes der Integrativen Sprachwissenschaft (IL: Lieb und andere) eine detaillierte, auf höhere Stringenz und Kohärenz abzielende Neuanalyse des gesamten französischen Tempussystems, bei der auch viele neue Einsichten zum Französischen, insbesondere zu Tempusverwendungen außerhalb des Indikativs, gewonnen werden. Das Buch richtet sich in erster Linie an Fachlinguisten und Examenskandidaten der Allgemeinen und der Romanistischen Linguistik, ist jedoch durch die Fülle an Belegen und Beweisführungen eine wichtige Informationsquelle für alle, die sich mit Fragen zum französischen Tempussystem gezielt vertraut machen möchten.
