Biographical sketch

Prehistoric archaeologist with a research focus in Neolithic and Chalcolithic societies, the processes of social change and how they are manifested in the domestic and funerary spheres, especially in the Iberian Peninsula. After gaining his PhD at the Complutense University (Madrid) in 1999, he was a post-doc researcher at the University of Valladolid (Spain). There he conducted several research projects and excavations in Early Neolithic settlements from the interior of Iberia, the Pyrenees and the Chafarinas Islands (North Africa) and also in megalithic graves and Bell Beaker sites. From 2011 he is Associate Professor at the Autónoma University (Madrid), where he was also director of the Master in Archaeology. He is the leader of the research project “Life and Death in Humanejos (Madrid, Spain): archaeometry of a cemetery and settlement of the III-IInd millennium BC”. During 2024 he is a Guest Researcher of the Prehistoric Identities group at the Austrian Archaeological Institute.
