Group Seminar: IPMI: Adaptive Optics in Light microscopy

Speaker: Alexander Jesacher (Innsbruck Medical University); Location: SP2 416-1

In the past decades, methods to measure and correct optical aberrations have found their way from Astronomy to biological imaging. Here, rather than atmospheric turbulence, it is usually the specimen itself which degrades the imaging performance. In the talk I will give an overview of the topic and address different methods which are used to infer and correct aberrations in light microscopy, such as direct and indirect, zonal and modal wavefront sensing. Various examples from different microscopy techniques will be presented.
