This volume is a collection of scholarly studies honoring Prof.Dr. David. E. Aune on his 65th birthday. Its title, The New Testament and Early Christian Literature in Greco-Roman Context: Studies in Honor of David E. Aune , reflects Prof. Aune's academic training, interests, and extensive publications. The volume's studies investigate a range of topics within the Pauline correspondence, Gospels, Apocalypse of John, and other early Christian writings with insights drawn from Greco-Roman culture and Hellenistic Judaism. Thus, the studies make use of Greco-Roman literature, rhetoric, magic, medicine, moral philosophy, iconography, archaeology, religious cults, and social conventions while also utilizing social-historical, social-scientific, literary-critical, and rhetorical-critical methodologies, thereby adding an interdisciplinary dimension to the volume. These groundbreaking studies have been written by prominent international scholars and are published here for the first time.

These groundbreaking studies have been written by prominent international scholars and are published here for the first time.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Christian literature, Early</subfield><subfield code="x">History and criticism.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Greek literature, Hellenistic</subfield><subfield code="x">History and criticism.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="630" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Bible.</subfield><subfield code="p">N.T.</subfield><subfield code="x">Criticism, interpretation, etc.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="z">90-04-14304-1</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Aune, David Edward.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Fotopoulos, John,</subfield><subfield code="d">1967-</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Novum Testamentum, Supplements</subfield><subfield code="v">122.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="906" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">BOOK</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="ADM" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="b">2024-05-22 08:24:52 Europe/Vienna</subfield><subfield code="d">00</subfield><subfield code="f">system</subfield><subfield code="c">marc21</subfield><subfield code="a">2012-02-25 23:59:56 Europe/Vienna</subfield><subfield code="g">false</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="AVE" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="i">Brill</subfield><subfield code="P">EBA Brill All</subfield><subfield code="x">https://eu02.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/view/uresolver/43ACC_OEAW/openurl?u.ignore_date_coverage=true&portfolio_pid=5343692350004498&Force_direct=true</subfield><subfield code="Z">5343692350004498</subfield><subfield code="b">Available</subfield><subfield code="8">5343692350004498</subfield></datafield></record></collection>
