The archaeological context of massive destruction caused by earthquake without rebuilding the structures gives in case of the so-called 'Marmorsaal' the possibility to regain the impression of the excellent furnishing with marble revetment on the reasons that nearly all the fragments were left within the debris and also because of the prints of plaques, pilasters and molding pieces left at the opus signinum-wallcovering. By analyzing the fragments together with the prints it was possible to reconstruct the system of the marble revetment based on a modulus similar to one Roman feet and to show the vertical division of the horizontal zones. The material itself, colored marbles imported from all the famous marble quarries all around the Imperium Romanum used in the marble revetment of the so-called 'Marmorsaal' reflects the wealth of the owner of the hole dwelling unit and so the abundant furnishing of this huge dining room gives the impression of the need for private representation of the upper class dwelling in Ephesos during the second century A.D. as the architectural decoration of the pilaster capitals of the marble revetment shows.
