Description based on publisher supplied metadata and other sources.
The publication of this Concordance to the Syriac New Testament (Peshitta) is a landmark in Syriac scholarship. It fills a lacuna in the field which has long been felt by Syriac scholars. George Kiraz's new computer-generated Concordance (in vocalized serto script) is based on the standard British and Foreign Bible Society's edition of 1920, and will at once take its place as an essential reference tool for New Testament and for Syriac studies. Notably, it marks a very successful union of Syriac scholarship with the 'Electronic Age', specifically the field of Linguistic Computing, since the author has academic qualifications in both computer engineering and Syriac studies. Finally, it witnesses the very welcome alliance of Syrian Orthodox and Western academic scholarship. It is designed to be of service not only to western scholars and students, but also to clergy and laity of the Syriac churches, for whom the Peshitta is their 'Authorized Version.'.
