Sustainability (Basel, Switzerland)
Description based on publisher supplied metadata and other sources.
Supply chains are currently globalized and companies operate internationally owing to the fact that raw materials, production processes, and the consumption of the final products are carried out in different countries. This implies high material and information flow, which incurs high costs associated with the supply chain and logistics, sometimes up to 60% of the total cost of the product. Therefore, companies seek to optimize their resources to reduce these costs and improve sustainability in a globalized market. This book, entitled Tools, Methodologies and Techniques Applied to Sustainable Supply Chains, contains 15 chapters that report case studies applied to industrial and service sectors. The authors come from areas such as Mexico, Colombia, Italy, Sweden, Slovakia, China, and Australia. They indicate how managers make use of tools and techniques to solve problems associated with supply chains to reduce their cost and remain competitive. A great effort has been made to analyze this problem, and the methodologies are clearly described here to facilitate the reproducibility of each technique and tool. This was done in the hope that hoping that they may one day be applied in more companies.
Implementation of a mathematical model to improve sustainability in the handling of transport costs in a distribution network / José Manuel Velarde, Susana Garcia, Mauricio López and Alfredo Bueno-Solano -- A systems thinking model to support long-term bearability of the healthcare system: the case of the province of Quebec / Ernesto A. Lagarda-Leyva and Angel Ruiz -- Green supplier selection in the agro-food industry with contract farming: a multi-objective optimization approach / Marco A. Miranda-Ackerman, Catherine Azzaro-Pantel, Alberto A. Aguilar-Lasserre, Alfredo Bueno-Solano and Karina C. Arredondo-Doto -- A linear programming model with fuzzy arc for route optimization in the urban road network / Elías Escobar-Gómez, J.L. Camas-Anzuelo, Sabino Velázquez-Trujillo, Héctor Hernández-de-León, Rubén Grjales-Coutiño, Eduardo Chandomí-Castellanos and Héctor Guerra-Crespo -- Supply chain optimization for energy cogeneration using sugarcane crop residues (SCR) / Leonardo Rivera-Cadavid, Pablo Cesar Manyoma-Velásquez and Diego F. Manotas-Duque -- Collection of solid waste in municipal areas: urban logistics / Jania Astrid Saucedo Martinez, Abraham Mendozaq and Maria del Rosario Alvarado Vazquez -- Prices of Mexican wholesale electricity market: an application of alpha-stable regression / Roman Rodriguez-Aguilar, Jose Antonio Marmolejo-Saucedo and Brenda Retana-Blanco -- Environmental impacts of reusable transport items: a case study of pallet pooling in a retailer supply chain / Riccardo Accorsi, Giulia Baruffaldi, Riccardo Manzini and Chiara Pini -- Comparison of four environmental assessment tools in Swedish manufacturing: a case study / Sasha Shahbazi, Martin Kurdve, Mats Zackrisson, Christina Jönsson and Anna Runa Kristinsdottir -- Parameter setting for a genetic algorithm layout planner as a toll of sustainable manufacturing / Martin Krajčovič, Viktor Hančinský, Ľuboslav Dulina, Patrik Grznár, Martin Gašo and Juraj Vaculik -- The role of green attributes in production processes as well as their impact on operational, commercial, and economic benefits / José Roberto Mendoza-Gong, Jorge Luis García-Alcaraz, José Roberto Díaz-Reza, Emilio Jiménez-Maqcias and Julio Blanco-Fernández -- Supply chain innovation in scientific research collaboration / Chih-Hugn Yuan, Yenchun Jim Wu and Kune-muh Tsai -- Warranty decision model and remanufacturing coordination mechanism in closed-loop supply chain: view from a consumer behavior perspective / Xiandong Zhu, Lingfei Yu, Ji Zhang, Chenliang Li and Yizhao Zhao -- Reverse logistic strategy for the management of tire wast in Mexico and Russia: review and conceptual model / Maria-Lizbeth Uriarte-Miranda, Santago-Omar CAballero-Morales, Jose-Luis Martinez-Flores, Patricia CAno-Olivos, Anastasia-Alexandrovna Akulova -- Sustainable supply chain management practices and sustainable performance in hospitals: a systematic review and integrative framework / Verónica Duque-Uribe, William Sarache and Elena Valentina Gutiérrez.
