Aydin, Sibel, author. From communication landscapes to bullying battlegrounds / Sibel Aydin, May A. Webber. Leiden : Brill, [2019] ©2019 1 online resource. text txt rdacontent computer c rdamedia online resource rdacarrier How and why does miscommunication lead to conflict and the abuse of power? What is bullying and in what sense is it an abuse of power? Drawing on the expertise of twenty-five researchers from academia, public and private spheres, this work discusses these and a wide range of other questions relating to communication, conflict, bullying and the abuse of power. Although ideally in a perfect world these questions would not even arise, even if this should be Leibniz’s “best of all possible worlds,” it is still an imperfect world and so, these questions arise and are in want of exploration. The chapters comprising this work contain the fruit of multi and inter-disciplinary discussions that occurred in an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation with the common goal of better understanding and advancing knowledge on these issues. Includes bibliographical references and index. Preliminary Material / Sibel Aydin and May A. Webber -- Why are there not More Conflicts in World Society? Conflict as Communication and its Invisibilization / Philipp Rückheim -- Exploring the Social Construction of Climate Change through a Dialogic Public Engagement / Eleanor Glenn -- Personal Democracy: Connecting the Individual, Group and Society through Dynamic, Interactive and Experiential Workshops / Tali Padan -- How Social are Social Media? On the Communication Culture of Contributors in Knowledge Oriented Social Media / Anabel Ternès and Nidal Beuttel -- The Life and Times of Bertha von Suttner: Pacifism, Feminism, and International Arbitration / Anne R.
