Summary:The late medieval period in Iberia saw an explosion in the writing of narrative histories. In examining eighteen different, if related, accounts of the reign of the Visigothic king Wamba (r. 671-680) this book aims to analyse the nature of the discourse of the late medieval Iberian chronicle. By means of a detailed analysis of the content and narrative techniques of the chronicles concerned, the book seeks to address the question: to what extent is it possible to speak of a genre of late medieval Iberian chronicles?
