Description
Other title:Natural Gas Conundrum
Summary:The publication deals with energy security in the Central Asian region with an emphasis on the natural gas sector. The research presented in this book attempted to answer the question of whether individual state actors in Central Asia are more inclined to a strategic or a market approach to energy policy formulation. Answering this research question aimed to better understand their approach to large infrastructure projects, such as the construction of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline. Based on the theoretical literature, a model was compiled for assessing the natural gas sector from the point of view of the formulation of the energy policy of individual state actors. This model was subsequently applied to three case studies of key states within the regional energy security complex of Central Asia - Russia, China and Turkmenistan.
