Description
Summary:Focuses on the formation of São Paulo cities created by the former Companhia Estrada de Ferro Noroeste do Brasil - now called Novoeste, from the beginning of the construction of the railway in 1905, until 1914, a date that marks the end of the connection between Bauru (SP) and Porto Esperança, in present-day Mato Grosso do Sul. In that period, villages appear that have certain urban constants from the seasons. Cities like Lins, Penápolis and Araçatuba deserve detailed analysis. The author notes that in them, since their origin, the logic of real estate speculation and profit as a basis for urban life has predominated.
