Folkloristični portreti iz dvajsetega stoletja se omejujejo na obdobje konstituiranja slovstvene folkloristike kot samostojne interdisciplinarne vede. V njej je predstavljenih štirinajst osebnosti, ki so se zavestno vključile v proces njenega osamosvajanja in ga še posebej zaznamuje stališče do mitološke teorije.
