Summary: | eng: Psychoanalysis is of special use for anthropology because cultural anthropology does not provide a theory of the individual subject. This is particularly obvious when trying to explain the production and reproduction of hierarchical gender relations in a great number of societies. I am trying to prove the necessity of a psychoanalytic theory dealing with Islamic societies. For this reason I am analyzing the religion of Islam to find out about offered psychic defense mechanism and mechanisms of social adaption. Furthermore, I am interested in how the individual can make use of the religion for compliance as well as resistance against the hierarchical gender system. |
