eng: The dissertation explains the special developments of the religion of the slaves in the USA. The black Christianity developed in the South of the USA. Its central theology is Christian, but religious and aesthetic values of West African religions remained living tradition, although African religious cults, structures and interpretations could not survive in the USA, as they did in Brazil or on the Caribbean Islands. But the slaves in the United States, as other slaves in the New World, shaped their religion according to the conditions in which they lived and to their religious and psychical needs, in order to survive in a hostile environment. The dissertation explains the difference in the development and the remaining aspects of West African religions.
