The range of documentation commences in the stone age Jericho, proceeds to the culture of the antique Orient, Old Europe, Malta and Crete, and finally to Greece and Rome. In the summary I represented the development to the present time. I examined the culture historical role of models including also objects which underlay the impact of architectonic forms. The models had most impact as containers of human remains in sepulchral art, as well as sepulchral donations. In this respect Egypt had an extraordinary position. In sacral art the models were used as donations and presents. The oldest people used the models for magic purpose. In the art of representation they were used very early. Their use is to be separated into the categories 'peaceful' (in the respect of edificated) and 'martial' (in the respect of defeated, obligation of tribute). They had a special rank in the Roman ceremony of triumph. Their signification in representation remains until the time of the 19th century. The architectural forms also had an influence on the things of every day use. Architectural models of antiquity have not been proved yet (in distinction to the Renaissance and following periods), their existence, however, has been stated in the literal sources.
