When Ernst Strouhal, a chess and cultural historian, and friend of Zobernig’s, learnt from the librarian Hans Petschar that a card catalogue of eighty-four box drawers was about to be decommissioned, the two arranged for it tob e exhibited as a ‚sculpture‘ in several different institutions. The accompanying publication, whose title Katalog was printed in bold uppercase letters, includes articles on the history of archiving, …, and on the catalogue as object … as well as facsimiles of library regulations (Heimo Zobernig’s ‚Vademekum: Zu den Regelwerken, eine Auswahl historischer Titel chronologisch gereiht‘ [Vade Mecum: On Regulations – A Selection of Historical Titles Arranged in Chronological Order]), and photographic documentation oft he analogue card catalogue(eighteen full-page black and white illustrations by Octavian Trauttmansdorff). There is also a comprehensive two-part documentation section of historical texts compiled by Monika Hoxha, Monika Kiegler-Griensteidl and Hans Petschar.
