eng: This thesis consists of two volumes: the first part deals with the circumstances for Jewish physicians in Vienna before the annexion by Hitler Germany. A major chapter treats the university of Vienna 1938, a major part of the faculty members of the Vienna medical school were expelled and more than 50 % were dismissed not only of racial but in many cases of political reasons. The physicians lost their right to practice on Oct. 1., 1938. They were not even allowed to call themselves physicians More than 3.000 Jewish physicians were in danger, many of them ended in concentration camps, but the majority managed to emigrate, most of them to the US. The remigration to Austria after 1945 did not really take place, only a few returned to Vienna. The second part is a lexicon of more than 400 pages. The basis consists of over 3.000 physicians, who were registered at the 'Wiener Aerztekammer' before 1938. This material was completed by different sources.
