Zwischen diesen beiden Polen setzt dieses Handbuch an. Es richtet sich an den Entwerfer und zugleich an den Nutzer. Die Publikation hat den Anspruch, als Kommunikationsmittel im Planungsprozess eines Museums zu dienen: während der Konzeption, des Wettbewerbs sowie der Entwurfs- und Bauphase. Neben einer Einleitung zur Architekturgeschichte des Museums befassen sich die Autoren mit den wesentlichen Planungsparametern für den Entwurf und die Gestaltung eines zeitgenössischen Museums. Bauten und Projekte bieten Inspirationen für die eigene Entwurfsarbeit.
