Die Forschungsprojekte des Future-Megacities-Programms liefern wertvolle Ergebnisse zu Energieeffizienz-Standards und energieeffizienten Stadtstrukturen. Sie zeigen, wie Ressourcen eingespart und Emissionen verringert werden können. Um diese ehrgeizigen Ziele zu erreichen, ist es aber unabdingbar, die Bevölkerung zu beteiligen und zu befähigen, eine aktive Rolle in der nachhaltigen Entwicklung ihrer Lebensumwelt zu übernehmen. Dafür sind Bildungs- und Qualifizierungsanstrengungen auf vielen Ebenen nötig, für unterschiedliche Zielgruppen und mit spezifischen Inhalten und Themen. Dieser Band zeigt erprobte und evaluierte Ansätze, nach denen fachgerechte Arbeitsausführung und ressourcenschonendes Verhalten im Arbeits- und Lebensalltag sowie individuelles und institutionelles Wissen entwickelt und gefördert werden können. Eingegangen wird auch auf Möglichkeiten zur persönlichen beruflichen Entwicklung und zur Ausbildung individuellen Verantwortungsbewusstseins. Die Autorinnen und Autoren berichten von ihren Erfahrungen in den Future-Megacities-Projekten und wollen interessierte Leserinnen und Leser anstiften, sie in ihren eigenen Zusammenhängen zu nutzen.

The projects in the Future Megacities programme gain valuable experiences in developing energy efficient standards and urban structures with adequate conditions to treat resources with care and avoid unnecessary emissions. To achieve the ambitious objectives, it is essential to convince and enable people to take an active part in sustainable development. This requires qualification and education efforts at different levels, with different target groups and for different topics. This volume presents several proven and evaluated capacity building measures. Proper workmanship, individual responsibility and the ability for personal professional progress are presented in the categories Training Practice and Enabling Local Communities. The authors share their experience and inspire people to set up own comparable projects.
