Dieser Band zeigt eine alternative Möglichkeit der Überwindung des nationalstaatlichen Deutungsrahmens auf: Indem auf der Ebene der Region nach (kolonialen) Verbindungen zwischen zwei Orten gefragt wird - in Geschichte und Gegenwart. Am Beispiel des deutschen Rheinlands und des Graslands in Kamerun wird der Mehrwert dieses Ansatzes deutlich, der andere Interaktionsräume und Interessen sichtbar macht sowie regionale Besonderheiten in der Erinnerungskultur aufzeigt - und zugleich die klassische Erzählung der kolonialen Verbindung zwischen Deutschland und Kamerun unterläuft.
