520 | |a In order to represent the diversity and dynamism of Islamic religious practice in Germany - which includes much more than the display of symbols or the demand for societal recognition - Theresa Beilschmidt investigates how the religious life of members of the mosque communities of the Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs of Germany (DITIB) is shaped. This empirical study, based on field research and interviews, shows that the practice of a subjectivized, everyday religiosity is at the heart of this, and not the promotion of Islam as an object of (trans-)state integration policies. With this, the study makes an important contribution to the sociology of Islam, which is just now gradually establishing itself.
