Hier treffen Menschen mit den unterschiedlichsten ethnischen, sozialen und kulturellen Hintergründen sowie musikalischen Bedürfnissen und Fähigkeiten aufeinander. Aus dieser Konfrontation entstehen Musiken, in denen sich ihr Anderssein und ihre Identität manifestieren, in denen sich aber auch Spuren der Anpassung und Integration finden - und die fast immer populäre Musikformen annehmen. Denn die Stadt als Handelsplatz macht zur Ware, was zuvor als Volksmusik mündlich tradiert wurde oder als Kunst gemeint war. Die Stadt ermöglicht unendlich viele Chancen der Kommunikation, die doch nie ausreichend zu sein scheinen. | ||
