Als Beitrag zur Wiederentdeckung der Theologie Ernst Lohmeyers (1890-1946) untersucht diese Monographie die Verbindung von Philosophie und Theologie in Lohmeyers Denken. Philosophisch orientiert sich Lohmeyer an der Erkenntnistheorie Richard Hönigswalds. Die historische Frage nach neutestamentlichen Inhalten ist für Lohmeyer untrennbar verbunden mit ihrer sachlichen Begründung. So interpretiert er zum Beispiel die mythische Ausdrucksweise des Neuen Testaments, indem er nach den Gründen dieser historisch bedingten Sprache fragt. Damit stellt sein Denken sowohl eine Alternative zur rein historisch-kritischen Forschung wie auch zur existentialen Interpretation der Bultmann-Schule dar.
This monograph explores the connection between philosophy and theology in Lohmeyer's thinking. His philosophical orientation is based on Richard Hönigswald's cognitive theory. For Lohmeyer, the historical question of New Testament contents is inseparably connected with their factual justification. As a result, Lohmeyer's thought presents an alternative to purely history-critical research, as well as to the existential interpretation of the Bultmann school of thought.
