Der Band enthält das zum größten Teil noch unveröffentlichte Textmaterial zu dem von Klopstock geplanten, aber nicht ausgeführten zweiten Teil der "Gelehrtenrepublik". Außerdem bietet er die gedruckte frühe Fassung der "Gesetze der Gelehrtenrepublik" sowie frühe Arbeiten zum Themenkomplex "Staat und Stand der Gelehrten". Der Apparat bezieht sich sowohl auf den 1774 gedruckten ersten Teil des Werkes (Band VII1) als auch auf die Textteile in diesem Band (VII 2).

The volume contains textual material, most of it unpublished hitherto, for the second part of the "Republic of Scholars", which Klopstock had planned but never executed. In addition, it presents the early printed version of the "Laws of the Republic of Scholars" together with early works on the topic area "The state and class of scholars". The critical apparatus refers both to the printed first part of the work (1774) (Vol. VII,1) and the texts in this volume.
