In this introduction, the first part presents and discusses the essential aspects of analytical action theory, questions of the determination of the concept of action and the description of actions. The second part concentrates on the fundamental assumptions of Austin's and Searle's speech act theory and on the analyses of Grice's concept of communication, which has exerted a major influence on linguistic pragmatics.
