Grenzüberschreitende Migration wird in einen breiteren Zusammenhang von sozialen Ungleichheiten und Transnationalisierung gestellt. Das Lehrbuch ordnet die damit verbundenen Fragen mit Hilfe von Theorien und Konzepten ein, gibt eine Einführung in die einschlägigen empirischen Methoden der Migrationsforschung, liefert Beispiele für gelungene empirische Forschung und vermittelt didaktische Anregungen.
