Die neuen Kaufhäuser stellten komplette Wohnwelten aus, Einrichtungsratgeber und Wohnzeitschriften kamen auf. Erstmals wurden Möbel mit Maschinen in Serie produziert. Exemplarisch zeigt das Buch, welche Wahlmöglichkeiten Familien des bürgerlichen Mittelstands bei der Wohnungseinrichtung hatten.
