520 | |a Verena Holl argues that, in an era of extremely competitive higher education, society needs an explicitly normative principle that combines governmental responsibility with civil society practices. She bases her argument on Rawls’s and Dewey’s legitimation theories and draws out the specific implications for the world of German higher education.
