Inwiefern hat sich die offensichtliche ›Rückkehr des Religiösen‹ in den öffentlichen Diskurs auch literarisch ausgewirkt: in Romanen und Erzählungen Lyrik und Reisebeschreibungen ebenso wie in Feuilleton-Diskussionen, Opern und performances?Im Anschluss an die beiden vorangegangenen Aufsatzbände zum Ursprung des Konzepts um 1800 und seiner Radikalisierung nach 1850 wird nun die Vielfalt kunstreligiöser Motive und Formen um 2000 anhand repräsentativer Werke dokumentiert. Unzweifelhaft klaffen Religion und Ästhetik zumeist auseinander und das Kunsterlebnis tritt an die Stelle religiöser Erfahrung, ohne dass das jeweilige Werk dabei notwendig sakralisiert würde.Selbst in negativer Gestalt kommt überall die ungebrochene Virulenz des romantischen Programms zum Tragen, Kunst in der Erscheinungsweise von Religion zu praktizieren. | ||
