Mit seinem Lexikon erstellte der bedeutende byzantinische Gelehrte und zeitweilige Patriarch von Konstantinopel Photios (9. Jh. n.Chr.) ein umfassendes praktisches Sprach- und Sachwörterbuch. In der vorliegenden Edition legt Christos Theodoridis einen Text vor, der erstmals einen neu entdeckten wichtigen Textzeugen berücksichtigt, der die bisherigen Textlücken schließt. Damit ist seine Edition des Lexikon ein unverzichtbares Nachschlagewerk für Gräzisten, Byzantinisten, Historiker und Theologen. Ein vierter Band soll die Edition ca. 2014 zum Abschluss bringen. This lexicon, authored by the renowned Byzantine scholar Photios I (ca. 820–891), was a comprehensive and practical dictionary and encylopedia. This edition of the work includes for the first time a significant text source that was recently discovered. This is an indispensible reference for Hellenists, Byzantinists, historians, and theologists. A fourth volume, slated to be released around 2014, will conclude the edition.
