Die Publikation soll insgesamt dazu beitragen, die Relevanz der Grammatikforschung für die Anforderungen einer zeitgemäßen Sprachgeschichtsforschung im Spannungsfeld zwischen Syntax, Morphosyntax, Textgrammatik und Pragmatik zu konturieren und etablierte Auffassungen zur Grammatikarbeit mit aktuellen Problemen zu konfrontieren. Insofern soll auch ein Beitrag zu einer systematischen Historischen Grammatik des Deutschen einschließlich ihrer methodischen Umsetzung geboten werden, so dass der Sammelband auch geeignet scheint, als Referenzwerk im Hinblick auf spezifische Fragen syntaktischer und textgrammatischer Arbeit in der Sprachgeschichtsforschung zu fungieren.
