Cypriote is an Ancient Greek dialect of the first millennium BC, closely related to Mycenean, which has come down to us as an Aegean syllabary. The renowned Indogermanic scholar Markus Egetmeyer (Sorbonne) is one of the few specialists for this dialect. The two fascicles presented here offer a unique and comprehensive documentation and analysis of the Cypriote dialect. The first fascicle is a systematic grammar; the second a collection of inscriptions arranged according to region and documenting all surviving material in the language (with translations). Zwei altgriechische Dialekte sind nicht im Alphabet, sondern in einem der ägäischen Syllabare überliefert: Mykenisch und Kyprisch. Das an der östlichen Peripherie gelegene Kyprische ist Gegenstand dieses Handbuchs. Es bietet als Hauptteil einen ersten Band mit einer Grammatik, die vor allem die Chronologie der Inschriften berücksichtigt. Der zweite Band soll die Arbeit mit der Grammatik erleichtern und bietet dazu den Text der Inschriften mit Übersetzung, eine umfangreiche Bibliographie und Indices. Die Darstellung soll die weitere Forschung zur Herausbildung der griechischen Dialektlandschaft im Rahmen der Indogermanistik und der Klassischen Philologie anregen, und auch als Hilfe dienen zur Herstellung eines Corpus der Syllabarinschriften sowie zur Erarbeitung der Palaeographie der noch unzureichend bekannten Schrift dieser Inschriften.
