Der vorgelegte Band bietet die erste umfassende Betrachtung dieser Texte: Führende Fachgelehrte werten das Material in philologischer, althistorischer und archäologischer Perspektive aus. In Surveys werden darüber hinaus einzelne Regionen vollständig dokumentiert. Einzelinterpretationen zu ausgewählten republikanischen Carmina sowie Ausblicke auf die Kaiserzeit mit dezidiert methodenkritischen Schwerpunkten runden die Publikation ab.

At the same time, the Carmina Latina Epigraphica of this period have been largely neglected by scholars, even though numerous complete epigrams have been preserved. The present volume deals with these texts more comprehensively than any previous study. Leading specialists evaluate the material from the perspectives of philology, ancient history and archaeology. In addition, surveys present a complete documentation of individual regions. The publication is completed by individual interpretations of selected Republican Carmina and views of the Imperial Age with a definite emphasis on critical methodological aspects.
