Sensible Transformationen urbaner Räume und historischer Gebäude stehen im Zentrum des ungarischen Architekturbüros 3h architects, das 1994 von Katalin Csillag und Zsolt Gunther gegründet wurde. Einer unüberschaubar scheinenden Welt setzen sie Räume großer Intensität und Komplexität entgegen, die oft an abgebrochene Stränge der Geschichte anknüpfen und die mit Tages- wie Kunstlicht unverwechselbare Raumwirkungen erzeugen. Von Büro- und Wohnhäusern bis zu Bildungsbauten, Schlössern und Kirchen spannt sich ihr Werk, das bereits vielfach ausgezeichnet wurde. Die Monografie dokumentiert neun realisierte und fünf noch nicht realisierte Bauten. Essays verschiedener Autoren arbeiten im Kontext von Ungarns Baukultur zentrale Themen des Büros vertiefend heraus: Raum und Licht, Typologie, Kontext und Ornament. The focus of the Hungarian architecture practice, 3h architects, which was founded in 1994 by Katalin Csillag and Zsolt Gunther, is on the sensitive transformation of urban spaces and historic buildings. They set spaces with great intensity and complexity against a world that seems incomprehensible, often linking them with interrupted strands of history and creating unmistakable space effects using daylight and artificial lighting. Their work covers offices, housing and educational buildings, as well as castles and churches, and has already attracted a number of awards. The monograph documents nine completed and five not-yet-completed buildings. The essays by various authors focus on the practice’s key interests in the context of Hungary’s architectural culture: space and light, typology, context, and ornament
