520 |a „Wie Dinge sind“ steht für das klassische Themenfeld der Eigenschaften oder Akzidentien. Im Buch wird von einer Ding- oder Substanzontologie ausgegangen, die deskriptiv oder alltagsontologisch ausgerichtet ist. Der Untertitel „noch eine Alltagsontologie“ bezieht sich auf den Untertitel („eine Alltagsontologie“) der Monographie „Ding – Substanz – Person“, welche durch dieses Buch thematisch geschlossen weitergeführt wird. Dabei wird der alltagsontologische Zugang gegen alternative Entwürfe (revisionäre Ontologie) grundsätzlich abgegrenzt und verteidigt. Der Schlüsselbegriff zur vorliegenden Theorie ist „Modus“. Modi sind partikuläre Weisen, wie Dinge sind. Modi sind in ihrer Existenz von Dingen abhängige Entitäten und weisen einen Qualitäts- und einen Kraftaspekt auf. Letzterer ist maßgeblich für (naturgesetzliche) Kausalität.Diese Modiontologie wird anhand konkreter Fragestellungen im Eigenschafts-Themenfeld ausgearbeitet, u.a. Modi und abundante Eigenschaften, Modi und uneigentliche Eigenschaften, Modi und die Distinktion extrinsische und intrinsische Eigenschaften, wesentliche und akzidentelle Modi. Schließlich wird gezeigt, wie die Annahme von Modi zur Verteidigung und zum Aufbau einer Ding- oder Substanzontologie beiträgt.
