520 |a One of the most important functions of the Humanities Association of Canada is to bring together scholars from all disciplines of the humanities. Its boundaries thus extend considerably beyond literary studies. The annual meetings of the Association choose themes designed to demonstrate the relatedness of the humanities, based on a sense of professionalism beyond the narrow professionalism of a single discipline. This function is carried on for a larger audience by the Bulletin of the Association, in which these essays originally appeared. Drawn from issues covering the years 1954 to 1967, they discuss a broad range of topics from Chaucer to Saint-John Perse, from Greek literature to the electronic age. They include areas of Canadian literature both French and English, literary criticism, philosophy studies of the contemporary role of the humanities, a discussion of the "new Quebec." Among the distinguished contributors are A.S.P. Woodhouse, Claude Bissell, F.E.L. Priestley, John M. Robson, Marshall McLuhan, Wilfred Watson, Guy Sylvestre, and Giles Marcott.
